How did you make this amazing video ?

Which video you mean ? This one, from our album‘s last song, that we called 7 Hills, based on traditional tune and lyrics, but we changed the original rhythm.

So how did we do it ? A combination of time + patience + paper + paint + cheap camera + cheap editing software !!!

As usual… any nice & warm comment will be welcome !!!

This is what came to my mind this morning, having the CDs on hand makes them real, I’ve seen the graphics on screen for weeks and then… they’re in my hands !

Astrakan Project first album
it is real !

Not all of them, we left a big box in Greece that we’ll get back within a week, but we have enough of them to start promoting. We need some time to prepare the web-site, and open a pay pall account so that anyone will be able to order from… anywhere ! So we’ve thought official release would be on September the 30th, for Full Moon. We’re probably gonna be playing around in Istanbul for the release but for those following us online, here, but also on FaceBook, on YouTube, or on our newsletter we’re thinking about a nice way to lunch the album. And… we have come up with a couple of interesting ideas we’re happy and excited to start sharing with you !

Thank you all, again, Simone & Astrakan Project

Cover on the way…

End of June is almost there, and despite of Istanbul’s weather being really hot and sometimes hardly breathable, we’re quite surprised with how far we’ve come with our recording. Most of the 9 tracks are fully recorded, we’re now at the stage of fine-tuning, looking how they will “fit” all together in the album, looking for the most appropriated order, also fine-tuning the mix, and getting into the mastering.

Cover and art-work is the other big part of the work that needs to be done. Simone has made a painting recently that we decided to use as the front cover. We just thought “it’s the good one”, although initially we had some plans to use a statue’s picture.

Work in progress ?

Most probably what we felt in this painting could “represent” our music has to do with the mix of cultures. She looks kind of Egyptian, but kind of Egyptian seen from the west. The background colours looking like stained glass also brings us back to the culture we both come from.
